Lucky People

Oh My God...
For those of you who are not football fans, the first offensive play for the New England Patriots of American style football, in the championship game, called the Superbowl (in this case Superbowl XLVI), was a rare scoring play for the New York Giants. The quarterback for the Patriots, about to be tackled in the end zone, threw the ball away, usually a legal play but not under certain circumstance, like what happened. The play was ruled "intensional grounding" or throwing the ball away while under duress to no receiver and the Giants were awarded 2 points for a safety. That was the first score of the game, making the ticket shown here worth $51,0000 USD. A really stupid bet when made but now... okay, still really a stupid bet, but really lucky! No, it wasn't me. Whomever bought these either the cunningest person in the world or was trying to throw his money away.
For those of you who don't know, the St. Louis Cardinals were all but out of the race for being the Professional American Baseball (called Major League Baseball, or MLB) playoffs when these tickets were bought on 9/12/11. Then the Atlanta Braves decided to fold and give their playoff spot to the Cardinals. The Cards have won the NL Championship and are currently in the World Series against the Texas Rangers. As of today, 10/21/11, they are tied 1 game to 1 in a best of 7 games.

Can you believe the luck of the guys who caught this video? Wonder what they think of it today (October 2011)?
