Bar Refaeli

Keeping with the international theme, here is Bar Refaeli, international "Super-Model." I'm sure she'll be in a movie... someday. Oh, if you want to book her for a shoot, here is her web site to do so.
Bar was born on June 4, 1985 in Hod HaSharon, Israel as Bar Refaeli. For those who know Hebrew, her name is בר רפאלי‎; which is read from right to left.

She has one controversy under her belt and I'm not talking about dating Leonardo DiCaprio. Straight from her Wikipedia, in 2007, controversy arose when it became widely known that Refaeli had married a family acquaintance and divorced him soon after in order to avoid military service in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), which is mandatory for both men and women over the age of 18, with certain exceptions. As a result of the adverse publicity, the Israeli Forum for the Promotion of Equal Share in the Burden threatened to boycott the fashion chain Fox (I don't think they are affiliated with the Fox in the U.S. -ed.) if they hired Refaeli, but the two sides reached a compromise in which the model agreed to visit injured IDF soldiers on visits to Israel and encourage enlistment in the army. Refaeli later stated, "I don't regret not enlisting, because it paid off big time. That's just the way it is, celebrities have other needs. I hope my case has influenced the army." In 2009, fellow Israeli model Esti Ginzburg, while speaking in support of enlisting, caused headlines by criticizing Bar Refaeli for her avoidance of military service. The controversy garnered further headlines when Refaeli was featured on the cover of Italian GQ's war-themed May 2011 issue.

She is 5' 8 ½" [1.74 m] tall.

Factoids:
  • She started modeling at age 11.
  • She is the first Israeli born model to be featured in Sports Illustrated magazine.
  • Refaeli volunteers for Project Sunshine, a non-profit organization providing free services and programs for children facing life-threatening illnesses.
  • Has also volunteered for organization Ahava, ("love" in Hebrew) which has been caring for pets abandoned in Northern Israel during the 2006 Israel-Lebanon conflict.
  • Refaeli and film director Shahar Segal have agreed to do a free campaign under the slogan "One Bag Less" to reduce the use of plastic bags (in Israel -ed.).
  • In August 2010, she decided to write a special report with the collaboration of "Better Place" on why she believes that people should drive electric cars.
